I started a granny ripple blanket about 3 days ago maybe and I have managed to finish a quarter of it! This is such a quick pattern to make for crochet! It is very therapeutic and I highly recommend it!
I am using Sirdar Connemara Chunky wool in Heartland, Sirdar Click Chunky in bloom, indy and pink and a 6mm hook so that helps it to grow fast but it does suck up wool because of that! 8 balls so far! Eeek! I can't go any further with it as I have ran out but have some more on it's way!
I am making this a big one, so the width is 57", so actually on that basis maybe I have only crocheted one fifth (thinking out loud)!
When it is mega sunny, I will photograph this blanket as the stupid energy bulb lighting in my lounge really doesn't show up the true colours of this when photographed under it! It looks completely different here!
In other news, I am really excited about a new film coming out in February this year about Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud! They are the brains behind psychodynamic and psychoanalytic approaches to counselling that I have learnt ALL about at college and university! The film is called A Dangerous Method and is based on a play by Christopher Hampton which was based on a book by John Kerr! Keira Knightley, Viggo Mortenson and Michael Fassbender are the three main characters so hopefully should be a good film!
I wanted to read the story first, which is a true one by the way, so I bought the book back in the beginning of December - it only arrived today! It is a really thick book with tiny writing and on thin paper!! So I hope I can finish reading it by the time the film comes out!
In more other news, the postman also delivered me this mighty beautiful brooch, hand made and drawn by Sarah aka Ditsy Bird! I have bought it for my mum (shhh Joe, don't show her this until I give it to her!) to say thank you for my lovely knitted cushion but I might keep it instead!!
Hopefully soon I can post a ta-dah for the lovely new blanket!
oh my gilly goulashes, i may have to hunt down one of those owly brooches for me! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteand your crochet blanket looks the bizz too - i dont think i'd have the patience to crochet a blanket so hats off to you :) x
This is looking great! I have the same problem with my pictures, I'd much rather take my pictures outside but we have had a lot of rain lately. They say over cast light is good for photography, but water..not so much. I'm sure your blanket will look great in the sun and I can't wait to see it! Keep up the great work.
ReplyDeleteLove your blanket Jeany! Looks gorgeous! I'm thinking of starting one myself from the cute and easy crochet book I got for my birthday.x
