I sew stuff, I crochet stuff, I make other stuff, I talk about stuff, and well...you know...stuff!

I really do love crafts!

Happy new year to you all, I hope you all had a lovely evening! I also hope 2012 is a fantastic year for you!

As I started writing this post, I suddenly thought about how much I love crafting. The satisfaction of finishing something and being proud to have made it is a wonderful feeling! This week I have had the pleasure of receiving something that was specially made for me with love and it's equally, if not more, wonderful!

Yesterday I finished crocheting a cowl scarf I found here, I used 150g of acrylic dk yarn in dark grey - £1.35 for 100g ball from a local charity shop. It took me roughly 5 hours to crochet so a nice quick make for a crocheted item!! And I love it!!

So now I have the pleasure of showing you all the gift I received - a knitted cushion, handmade by my mummy! We went to Wales this year on holiday and I got my mum crocheting some squares for my blanket. Since then, she has got back into knitting and made me a tea cosy as part of a birthday present she got together plus others that people have requested since seeing my one. Before you know it she'll be on Folksy and twitter! My brother bought it round yesterday as mum thought I would be disappointed (wrong!), you wouldn't know her hands are deformed from RA! Here it is!

I can't possibly ever lean on it so it may have to live on my bed!!

  1. Wow!! How luck you are to have such a Special Gift from your lovely Mum that you will treasure forever:)

Funnily enough, my Mum asked ME for a knitted cushion, so I made it with loads of love and care and she now has it on her bed:)

We are very lucky to be crafters you know. People who dont craft dont know what they are missing, we may make and sell stuff (sometimes!) but the happiness we get while we are making it must is just such the best feeling:)

Happy, Healthy New Year to you and your lovely family.

  4. Gorgeous scarf, and your mum is amazing! How could she think you'd be disappointed with that? Crafting is a great skill to have, isn't it!
