This Christmas I made my Mum an owl cushion. Mum had seen one in a shop in Ironbridge this year and wanted it so I took a quick sneaky photo and promised to make one!
It took me 5 months to get round to it but better late than never I say! Mum loved it, along with a mini owl from Craftyguider and an owl illustration by Moonbeatle that I had framed. She called the cushion Twitty and Craftyguider's owl Twooty
The fabric for the back of the owl was from a stash of my Nana's old fabric she gave to me this year, when my Mum opened it she said she used to have a dress made from that fabric - how sweet is that!?
I am not sure I was altogether pleased with the overall shape of the owl and would probably alter it if I ever make any more. But I do love the crochet bits on it, makes it quite unique and they have a lovely effect!
The photos were only taken on my phone so excuse the poor quality! And I know I asked twitterer's opinions on the amount of hearts but I couldn't be bothered to make any more in the end (tut)!

I love this - it's so cute!
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of recycling the fabric as well, bet your mum is so chuffed!!!
Where did you get the "meanyjar" tags done? I want some!
It's lovely! Seeing the final finished cushion, it didn't need the extra hearts. Your crochet is fabulous.
ReplyDeletereally lovely - and fab with the hearts. What a perfect gift.
