Well it's been a long time since I last blogged, much has happened since then! Firstly, I have finished my first year at University on the Integrative Counselling degree - YAY!! It was tough going in the last few weeks but I made it, just awaiting all the results in June. I have decided to do a lot of reading for next year as my work needs to step up a gear, plus the more I learn, the more I can understand the processes my clients have and the better a therapist I can be. I have really enjoyed my first year of working as a school counsellor, I have learnt a huge amount and still feel really focussed on my ambition to be a qualified art/play therapist working with adolescents as it has been very rewarding so far.
The other main event in my life is that I have recently been given the most marvellous news that I will be an Auntie for the first time! Baby is due on November the 17th so plenty of time for me to crochet an heirloom blanket for the lovely new parents! I have been pleasantly surprised at how excited I am and I cannot wait to be an Auntie! Luckily, the soon-to-be-mummy wanted a sneak peek so that means I can show you all too instead of waiting until November! As soon as I found out the news I searched for a pattern straight away and finally decided on this one, it is very clear and well written! I am using 4-ply baby wool and a 3.5mm crochet hook! The only down side to this beautiful blanket is that it will have a wrong side and a right side so I may crochet a second blanket that looks equally lovely on both sides, ie - you have to turn the work on each round!
To kick start my crafty side again after all the academic work I (finally) made some roman blinds for our bedroom (we've lived here for four years already without anything up at the windows)! I have used Clarke and Clarke fabric, very pretty and girlie, and to soften the edges I have put up voile panel curtains and made some tiebacks to match! I am very pleased with the results and now I have privacy!!
So here is the blanket so far and my newly dressed windows! Thank you for reading and I hope to blog again soon!
What lovely news. I'm sure youre thrilled, I love being auntie. The blanket is so so gorgeous, it looks like a very complicated pattern!! I'm loving your pretty blinds too crafty lady!

Thank you lovely lady! The blanket is actually incredibly simple, it only consists of 4 different types of rounds in a set combination and all in one type of stitch - (US) dc!
DeleteCongrats on your first year and also for becoming an Auntie! Love the blanket and blinds :-)
