The workshop was taught by Alice or possibly known to you as @knitnrun4sanity, I met Alice at one of my workshops - Lino Printing, and she is very lovely! I asked if I could stay as I don't know Haddenham although I was the only one that did stay - I felt like an intruder! I sat in a corner and crocheted my #festiveCAL bunting and rudely helped myself to tea!
The Spoilt Rotten Beads shop is like a sparkly cave of enticing loveliness, I felt like a moth being drawn towards the light! I couldn't resist the light and after the workshop me and the girls set to filling up a shopping bucket!
The kumihimo workshop was fabulous, there were loads of girls from about 5 up to mid teens (I think, hard to tell nowadays) and they were incredibly quiet because they were so absorbed and in a kumihimo trance! I loved watching Alice pass on a craft and seeing several children take that on - I get such a thrill passing on crafts, which is why I love running my workshops!
My youngest, Isobel who is 8, is quite a crafty child and loves making things, although lately she has lost the attention she used to have for making, but I can see that that will come back when she's older. Saffron, 12, isn't quite as interested and gets frustrated and bored with making some things. So I was very pleased to find that Saffron has really got the bug for kumihimo, and I mean really - she is actually doing my head in keep talking about it! She has now made one for everyone in the family and all her friends! Isobel has enjoyed it too and has made her self a metre long bag tag!!
There is another kumihimo kids workshop this coming Thursday, I highly recommend it!
Here are the kumihimo's they made at the workshop - you could just keep making loads until the time was up!
I got myself all the bits to make a beaded kumihimo bracelet, having not even tried kumihimo yet myself or even seen how you put the beads on I haven't quite got the courage to start! I have got as far as watching a youtube video! I have been thinking that I'll give it a go soon though! Watch this space!
