It was my 30th birthday yesterday and I had such a lovely day!
My birthday celebrations really started on Sunday when Daniel took me away to Chester for a couple of nights, this was a complete surprise! Chester is beautiful and we relaxed and walked about for most of the time. The hotel slapped a stamp on our check in paper which gave us free bar between 5-7, needless to say, Daniel and I were there at exactly 5pm on the dot!! So we had loads of fun too!
Yesterday morning the girls came into our room bright and early and told me to close my eyes! They were sticking this to the wall above my head! I love them to bits!
During the day, the girls and I went out for lunch with a couple of friends of mine from Uni and then in the evening, my mum came over with my younger brother, my nana and my grandpa. Mum cooked us all lamb for dinner and made her signature pudding - apple strudel! I really don't like cake so this must be the best alternative I could ever think of, and she even put candles on it!!
These are some of the presents I received but the best present yet has to be the tea set my mum searched high and low for and the teapot cosy she knitted! Daniels sister bought me my present months ago from
Bubs Bears, a bear I have wanted for ages and ages, made from Cath Kidston fabric! Daniel bought me a really posh pen I had wanted for ages too! I have been an extremely lucky girl, not only because of lovely presents, but because of the thought and effort that everybody went to to make my day feel special! There is an extra bit at the end of the present pictures so don't go away too soon!!

| Beautiful peacock bracelet from Joe, my little brother. |
 |

 |
| Mummy's hand knitted tea cosy!! |
 |

| These were made in 1909! |
So now you have seen just how lucky I am!! And, I am still being taken out for dinner tomorrow night!!
This next bit has nothing to do with my birthday but I felt very proud so had to write about it! My daughter Isobel who is 6 was sewing with me the other day. I was sewing a hoopla picture and she wanted to do the same. She started off by making me a birthday cake that she hand drew herself but half way through she suddenly asked if she could make it for someone else. I protested but it's hers so said of course she could. Isobel had decided, due to the bumpiness of the stitches and beads to make it for the blind boy in her class. Apparently, when the grown ups make pictures for him they use glue that dry's hard and bumpy so he can feel it. This is what suddenly came to Isobel whilst she was making her picture. I feel so proud of her for thinking of it, and also because I think she sews brilliantly for a 6 year old! Isobel sewed every single bit, she sewed on the beads and buttons all completely by herself. The only bit I help her with is threading the needle, putting a knot in and then the tiny finishing stitches on the back! She has also made another picture but I can't give anything away about that one yet! So here is her feely picture!

I hope you've enjoyed my birthday blog!
What a lovely post. Glad you had a great 30th! Always nice to be spoilt on your birthday! And such a thoughtful daughter too (and she looks just like you!)
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet little girl! I enjoyed reading this, and loved the vintage tea set. Lucky you! Birthday wishes, Lesley
ReplyDeleteFirstly, can you please tell Isobel that she is a VERY kind, caring little girl and the little boy she has made it for is going to be soooooo thrilled!
ReplyDeleteWell you had some fab presents:) Love the tea cosy your Mum made:) Has she thought about Folksy?!:)
I adore old tea sets, there is just something about them, vintage stylish, not good grammer, but you know what I mean. Loved the cutlery and sugar tongs too!
See you on Twitter

ReplyDeleteThank you all you lovely peoples!! xx
ReplyDeleteA lovely post. Belated birthday wishes. Loving the teaset. I recognise a cup and jug from my own china. Bless your DD - her embroidery is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteA belated happy birthday, glad you had a great time! Chester is beautiful, I used to live there and still miss it sometimes! What a lovely idea of Isobel's too, her sewing is fab and she is so thoughtful! xx
ReplyDeleteYour birthday sounds just lovely! And what an amazingly thoughtful daughter you have. It was my sons 2nd birthday on the same day although we were hampered in our activities by him having a monster cold.
ReplyDeleteOne further thing, you should work on that not liking cake thing - it sounds a terrible affliction. Especially now you have a lovely tea set to eat it off of!
Thanks for the post x
