Birthday crafting!

On Wednesday, my eldest daughter had her 11th birthday! And no, it doesn't make me feel old as I am STILL 29! I keep saying that a lot at the moment as I have only 26 days left of being 29!

We went out on Wednesday night for a very nice dinner at Pizza Express as it was a weekday and we had planned for her to have a party with a few friends on Friday night. I suddenly realised a few days ago that I hadn't thought of any presents or party bags for the friends! They are all 10-11 years old so probably too old for party bags but are still young enough to expect something at the end! I still went down the party bag route but I made them myself and made some mini bunting and a crocheted brooch to go in them, these I thought were a grown up version of the party bag! Making them saved me quite a bit of money but they did take me longer than I thought!

The cutting out stage!
Look quite nice as cones actually!
These looked really cute!

The party bags.

Very simple, quick to make brooches. Love the colours all together!

The lovely part of the party bags!

The stuff I bought to fill them up a bit more as they looked flat!

Saffron had some beautiful cards this year.

*I almost completely forgot to tell you about the lovely card I bought from Louise, also known as Craftyguider. So I have added this little bit on and hope I have recovered myself! Louise makes and sells lovely handmade cards and fabric gifts to raise money for guides. Her online shop (which is very pretty) that you can find here has only been open a short while so do check it out!! Very handy for buying birthday cards and this one below is the card I bought for Saffron's birthday. Saffron has a thing about mini coopers and she absolutely loved it!*

Bunting on the front door...why not?

And up the stairs!

And in the lounge!

The party went really well and Saffron's friends were a delightful bunch! It certainly looked like they had a good time! I didn't have to do a lot during the party, just supplied the food and left them a bunch of Wii games and they chose to dance and sing all night...even had a dance off!!

Two of the friends stayed for a sleepover, finally going to sleep at 11:30pm and apparently they woke up at 5:30am - I woke up an hour later! Today, we went to a local ceramic painting place and the girls took over 2 hours to paint some tile shapes! But they really enjoyed it! And now I can rest!!
