I sew stuff, I crochet stuff, I make other stuff, I talk about stuff, and well...you know...stuff!

This week....

.....I have started University, spent a day doing voluntary work, made three cushions, spent lots of student finance and have had a permanent headache since Monday!

I have a very lovely friend and her Mum died in April 2010 from pancreatic cancer. They have set up a fund in her name to raise awareness and money for research and support. The main reason why they wanted to raise awareness is because pancreatic cancer has shocking statistics - it has the lowest survival rate of all cancers, only 3%, which is exactly the same figure as 40 years ago! This demonstrates the lack of research into it. In November they are holding a quiz to raise money for the fund as they give out grants to people who apply. I was asked if I wouldn't mind making one of the prizes for the raffle that they will hold at the quiz, so I made two cushions which I finished today! I have made posh cushions for this particular raffle as the prizes they usually have at their events are superb! They are a mixture of fabric and crochet which I think goes really well together and is quite unique!

I went on to make another cushion today and this one is for my Folksy and Etsy shop. I actually really like this cushion and I want to keep it!! Again, this cushion has crochet featured on it and it looks really quirky! The back for all my cushions are baby fleece so they are proper cosy!!

I asked my Mum when we were in Wales to make me a shabby footstool that I could cover in crochet granny squares. She has a woodburner and therefore has a saw so I thought it would be easy for her to throw together some bits of wood! Anyway, she copped out and passed the task over to my very brilliant, lovely, talented, wonderful Grandpa! He made me a beautiful stool which he has also varnished and I picked it up on Sunday and I completely love it! Now I don't know whether I want to cover it over in wool or not!?!

Since I finished my massive blanket, I have felt empty of things to do. I always knew what my next big project was going to be but I had to wait for my student finance to go in to my bank. This is because I was going to use gorgeous expensive pure wool - no expense spared!! I finally got to order some Rowan pure wool in raspberry yesterday from Deramores and it arrived today! It only cost me £26 in the end, I thought it would be more and I also got free postage! I am extremely busy after 3pm today so I may have to wait until tomorrow to start!

Right, now I am off to school, gymnastics club, theatre club, and Saffron's new school for next year for an open evening!!
